Managing drive mappings: overview

A drive mapping is the assignment of a drive letter on a computer to access a specific shared area on a server. This ensures that all users who log on to that computer can use the same drive letter to access the same areas.

The Drive Mappings tab in a computer's properties dialog lists all the drive mappings assigned to that computer. The tab also lists drive mappings which the computer has inherited from its location and any locations which are higher in the location hierarchy. The 'Assigned at' column on the Drive Mappings tab shows where a drive mapping is assigned.

Note

  • Whatever drive mappings are assigned to computers, individual users will see only those that are allowed for the type of user they have been assigned. Refer to your Community Connect 4 Reference Manual for more information.
